HOW WE ACCOMPLISH THIS MISSION

Students in an Advanced Placement US Government and Politics class engage in a Mock Congress activity, in which they take on the role of the legislative branch to better understand how a bill becomes a law.

1- We offer eight Advanced Placement courses, enabling students to earn college credits across content areas before graduating.

2- Our partnership with Farmingdale State College, York College and Queensborough Community College's Connect2 College program, enables students to take dual credits courses during their school day, earning both college and HS credits.

3- Career Day, College Applications Week Workshops, Collage Trips across New York and to Washington DC, and Parent Night support students as they explore and prepare for their future collage and career plans.

4- Trips take advantage of our location in world-class city. our students hace seen Hamilton, The Play That Goes Wrong, Wicked, and more on Broadway, as well as visited The New York Times Offices, Cambridge University Press, the United Nations, One World Observatory, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and More!

5-All students engage in an 8-10 credits arts sequence in visual arts, theater, or dance, culminating in an Arts comprehensive Exam.

Humanities and the Arts challenges students to dream big and accomplish even more. Our strong academic focus is coupled with an equally strong sequence in the Visual Arts that culminates in AP Studio Art in senior year. Performance Arts includes theater, music, and dance, and we have regular performances from students in all of our arts disciplines. A number of our students have also had the chance to display their work for the general public - theater students have performed on Broadway, and visual arts students have had their work displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art!

Our college‑going culture is fostered by a continuing partnership with Queensborough Community College with the  Connect2College Program and Project Prize, while CUNY College Now classes are also available at Queens College for eligible students. Students can begin taking one of our eight Advanced Placement courses during their sophomore year, enabling them to graduate Humanities and the Arts with upwards of thirty college credits by the end of their senior year!
