Mathematics

The Mathematics Department at the HART High School provides students with the opportunity to engage in real-world mathematical problems and prepare them for success in college and beyond. The math sequence takes students from Algebra, to Algebra II/Trigonometry, to Geometry, and Statistics. Students have the potential to earn three college credits upon successfully completing our newly formed AP Statistics course. AP statistics introduces students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. There are four themes in the AP Statistics course: exploring data, sampling and experimentation, anticipating patterns, and statistical inference.

Students use technology, investigations, problem solving, and writing as they build conceptual understanding. Freshmen entering our school with the Algebra Regents will follow an advanced sequence; thereby further preparing students for careers in Business and Accounting. Our goal is to ensure all students graduate Humanities and the Arts High School with the ability to critically evaluate mathematical problems in a real word context and seek solutions for scientific and environmental issues of the 21st century.
